American Fiction 1774-1920 - Using Literature to Answer Key Questions about History, Society, Race, Gender and Culture!
Explore the development of American literature in a changing culture through novels, short stories, romances, fictitious biographies, travel accounts, and sketches. These texts reveal much about the socioeconomic, political, and religious tenor of America through centuries of radical change, enabling students and researchers to answer key questions about history, society, identity, psychology, race, gender, and culture. This primary source collection consisting of nearly 18,000 works with over 4,200 never before available digitally will be one of the first archival collections available on both the Artemis Literary Sources and Artemis Primary Sources cross-search platforms.  The ability to cross-search American Fiction, 1774-1920 with Gale’s other digital primary source collections in Gale Artemis: Primary Sources places thousands of authors and titles in context with historical newspapers, monographs, ephemera, and other sources to bring to light never-before-discovered collections.  The ability to search American Fiction, 1774-1920 with Gale's other literature collections like Twayne's Authors Online, Scribner Writers, Dictionary of Literary Biography Complete and our award-winning Literature Criticism Online series garners amazing research opportunities for literature and history courses alike.
