Libraries along with their collections and services need to be where their users are – not just on Web sites, but also directly searchable via search engines. Transforming MARC records to Linked Data is an important step to revealing the remarkable resources of library collections to the Web for students, faculty and researchers, but also potential customers such as prospective students/parents, business community, alumni/donors, campus administration and even as a recruitment tool.
Zepheira is working with librarians and their service providers to build the Library.Link Network, an enterprise level infrastucture that uses Linked Data to give libraries new opportunities to serve "anywhere, any device" users. At this session, we will explore how libraries are expanding access to their resources by publishing structured data about their collections and services to the Web. You will learn how Linked Data can impact workflow planning, management, strategic planning, and the communities you serve.
